Busara has been awarded ‘best organization of the year 2023’ by Habit Weekly, with BeWay, Latin America’s top behavioral science consultancy, and Irrational Labs, who apply ‘behavioral science to make people happier, healthier and wealthier’  taking second and third place. Habit Weekly justified the win by highlighting Busara’s ‘commitment to positive behavioral science on a larger scale’ and added ‘hats off!’ to comment on the achievement.

In the citation to honor Busara’s achievement, Habit Weekly highlighted that

Busara stands out for its dedication to leveraging behavioral science in addressing issues in development and poverty alleviation and sharing valuable lessons along the way. In a WEIRD world of behavioral science, Busara truly does some incredible work and their projects in over 25 countries demonstrate its commitment to providing practical, data-driven solutions and advancing the field of behavioral science in the Global South. Thank you for your important work, but also for sharing your insights via your blog and publications!

‘This is a wonderful recognition from the global behavioral science community for an international Global South organization,’ said Chaning Jang, Busara’s CEO. ‘I’m particularly proud that our growing efforts to find ways to make behavioral science appropriate for non-Western populations as well as our recent emphasis on putting Busara’s voice out there through more publications have been recognised. Thank you so much, Habit Weekly!’

2024 marks Busara’s tenth anniversary as an independent research organization. In those ten years, Busara has grown from a small project to a Kenyan-headquartered organization with 130+ staff and experience in working in more than 50 countries.
